YONKERS
- Eight members of two Yonkers Mexican street gangs who are in this country illegally have been arrested by local and federal
agents, police said yesterday. Members
of the Yonkers Gang Unit, Narcotics Unit and the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Team of the Department
of Homeland Security, arrested the Mexican nationals yesterday and Wednesday, officials announced.
Five members of Vatos Locos, a notorious Mexican street gang that police blame for numerous crimes in Yonkers, were arrested.
Three members of a lesser-known street gang, the Elliott Mexican Gang, based on Elliott Avenue in Yonkers were also arrested.

"They are all known to the police
department to have committed crimes in the past," said Yonkers police Lt. Diane Hessler, a spokesperson for the department.
All eight are illegally in the country, Hessler added.
The eight will be turned over to federal
immigration officials and will be deported for being in the country illegally. All of the suspects were transported to 26
Federal Plaza in Manhattan where they were processed and moved to an ICE detention center.
All were arrested on federal administrative warrants, Hessler said.
On Wednesday,
the team of federal and Yonkers officers went to St. Andrews Place and Grey Place at 6 a.m. where they captured the five reputed
members of the Vatos Locos gang.
Those five suspects were: Omar Aguilar, 19, of 82 St. Andrews
Place; Felipe Garcia, 19, of 82 St. Andrews Place; Ceasar Guerrero, 34, of 85 St. Andrews Place; Rene Garcia, 31, of 82 St.
Andrews Place and Rodrigo Ortega, 22, of 790 Warburton Ave.
At 6 a.m. yesterday,
the officers went after the Elliott Mexican Gang. Three reputed members were arrested.
Those
suspects were: Edgar Romero, 20, of 71 Elliott Ave., Eduardo Martinez, 19, of 44 Loring Ave. and Raul Agular, 21, of 150 Livingston
